IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS:

  1. Yellow Level 2 warning for disruptive rain with heavy downpours leading to localized flooding over the Free State, central and southern parts North West, eastern parts of the Northern Cape, central and northern parts of the Eastern Cape as well as the midlands and western areas of KwaZulu-Natal.
  2. Yellow Level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms with damaging winds and large amounts of small hail resulting in localised damages and disruptions is expected in places over the northern and central parts of the Western Cape.
  3. Yellow level 2 warning for coastal wind resulting in difficulty in navigation at sea and short term disruptions of small harbours/ports is expected between Cape Columbine and Cape Agulhas

Temperature and UVB forecast

Gauteng:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and warm with scattered showers and thundershowers from the afternoon.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Moderate.

Mpumalanga:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and hot with isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers but widespread in the south.

Limpopo:

Temperature: Very hot in the Lowveld and Western Bushveld, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers except in the northeast but scattered in the south.

North-West Province:

Temperature: Cloudy and warm to hot, with scattered showers and thundershowers but widespread over the southern parts.

Free State:

Temperature: Cloudy and cool to warm, with widespread showers and thundershowers.

Northern Cape:

Temperature: Cloudy and cool to warm with isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers but widespread over the southern parts.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh northerly to north-westerly.

Western Cape:

Temperature: Fine in the south-west at first, otherwise cloudy and cool to warm with scattered to widespread showers and thundershowers.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong southerly to south-easterly, but near gale to gale in the south-west.

Eastern Cape:

The Western half Temperature: Warm in places over the interior, otherwise cloudy and cool with scattered to widespread showers and thundershowers.

The Western half – Wind: The wind along the coast will be light easterly, becoming moderate to fresh south easterly in the afternoon.

The Eastern half Temperature: Cloudy and cool with scattered showers and thundershowers, but widespread in the northern interior.

The Eastern half Wind: The wind along the coast will be light northerly, becoming moderate to fresh north easterly in the afternoon.

Kwazulu-Natal:

Temperature: Morning fog patches over the western interior, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot, but cool in the south-west where it will be cloudy. Widespread showers and thundershowers are expected in the west and southern parts, otherwise scattered to isolated.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh easterly to north-easterly.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Moderate.
