Severe Weather Alerts

IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS:

1. Yellow Level 2 Warning for Wind resulting in difficulty in navigation at sea between Table Bay and Cape Agulhas is expected in the morning.

2. Yellow Level 2 Warning for Severe Thunderstorms that may result in heavy downpours leading to localized flooding that could result in damage to property or infrastructure, and flooding of roads/bridges and low lying areas resulting in difficulty in driving over extreme southern parts of Kwa-Zulu Natal and places in the eastern parts of Eastern Cape..

FIRE DANGER WARNINGS:

  1. Extremely high fire danger conditions expected in northern and western parts of the Northern Cape.

  1. Extremely hot conditions are expected in places over West Coast, western parts of Cape Winelands districts, as well as Prince Albert municipality (W.CAPE).

Temperature and UVB forecast

Gauteng:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and cool with scattered showers and thundershowers.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: High.

Mpumalanga:

Temperature: Cloudy in the east at first with morning fog along the northern escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm but hot in the Lowveld. Isolated showers and thundershowers are expected in the afternoon but scattered in the Highveld.

Limpopo:

Temperature: Cloudy in the east at first with morning fog along the escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers in the extreme south.

North-West Province:

Temperature: Cloudy and warm with scattered showers and thundershowers.

Free State:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and warm with scattered showers and thundershowers, but isolated in the west.

Northern Cape:

Temperature: Cloudy with morning fog, otherwise partly cloudy and hot, with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers, except in the extreme west.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be light and variable becoming moderate south-westerly by the afternoon.

Western Cape:

Temperature:Cloudy and foggy along the coast in the morning, otherwise cloudy to partly cloudy and warm to hot, becoming fine in the interior from the afternoon where it will be very hot but extremely hot in places in the west.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong easterly to south-easterly in the south, otherwise light to moderate westerly to north-westerly.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Extreme.

Eastern Cape:

The Western half –Cloudy in places in the south with isolated showers and rain, otherwise partly cloudy and warm.

The Western half – Wind: The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong easterly.

The Eastern half – Cool in places in the east, otherwise partly cloudy and warm with scattered showers and thundershowers, but isolated in extreme west.

The Eastern half Wind: The wind along the coast will be fresh north-easterly.

Kwazulu-Natal:

Temperature: Morning fog over the interior, otherwise partly cloudy and warm but cool in the south-west, becoming cloudy in the afternoon with scattered showers and thundershowers but isolated in the north-east.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate easterly to north-easterly.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Very High.
