Flake news: MORE snow forecast to hit THREE provinces this week!

We’ve had a generous output of snowfall this winter, and the white stuff isn’t done with us yet: Another icy blast is coming to South Africa this week, and according to our latest snow forecast, up to three provinces AND Lesotho are on course for dusting.

As noted by the latest update from Ventusky, we’re getting a flurry on Sunday 31 July. The last day of the month will bring modest amounts of snow to rural locations in the EASTERN CAPE, KZN, and FREE STATE. Furthermore, Lesotho is on track for a substantial covering.

Just in! Durban woman CRUSHED by her own vehicle

Paramedics said a Durban woman was CRUSHED by her own vehicle on Tuesday.

According to Netcare 911 spokesperson Shawn Herbs, the 44-year-old woman got out to close the gate when the vehicle rolled back and pinned her into a wall.

“Reports indicate that the woman had been crushed after she exited her vehicle to close her gate, when the vehicle rolled back, pinning her into a wall.

“On arrival, START Rescue was already on scene providing first-aid to the lady after she was freed by construction workers who heard her shout for help.”

Father arrested for allegedly trying to SELL children with albinism

Mozambican police have arrested two men for allegedly trying to sell three children with albinism. It’s been reported that one of the suspects is the children’s father.

The children are aged between 9 and 16 years old. Police revealed that the men were attempting to sell the children for witchcraft. After the arrests, the men continued to deny the allegations.

A spokesperson for the police in Mozambique Feliciano da Camara said authorities responded to a tip-off and were able to intercept the men.

Hospital horror: Patient plunges SEVEN FLOORS to their death in Free State

An investigation is underway at a hospital in Free State, after a patient plunged to his death from the seventh floor of the facility. A security worker at Pelonomi Tertiary discovered the body over the weekend.

It’s understood that the deceased was a 33-year-old male, who had previously been transferred from another hospital. He had been admitted to the burns unit at Pelonomi, after initially staying at the JS Moroka medical facility. But this would prove to be a fateful decision.

The patient was suffering from severe burns to his neck, shoulders, hands and face. His next of kin have been alerted, and offered psychological support. Meanwhile, police and forensic teams are now leading an investigation into this bizarre death.

Alleged woman-beater, Johnny Rocket, goes to trial

An alleged woman-beater, John Schuurman, also known as Johnny Rocket, is headed for trial after pleading not guilty.

Rocket is alleged to have assaulted his ex-girlfriend, Milena Hill, and broken her nose.

Rocket’s victim has been receiving support and aid from AfriForum’s Private Prosecution Unit. He allegedly beat Hill on 27 January and his trial was due to start on Monday. Hill was expected to testify about the assault during the proceedings.
