Libya faces the challenge of two prime ministers

Issued on:

We begin with political instability in Libya as the House of Representatives named a rival to the existing unity government's chief Abdulhamid Dbeibah, hours after his convoy was targeted in a drive-by shooting. The appointment of a second prime minister, Fathi Bashagha, threatens to spark a new power struggle in the war-torn nation.

We also head to Nigeria. Authorities are urging thousands of internally displaced people to go back home. The government says the security situation in Borno state has sufficiently improved to allow them to close a refugee camp in Maiduguri. But some reports show a different picture, with many areas in the state still not being secure.

We also bring you our exclusive report from Benin. The government launched a war against clandestine health centres a few years ago and the hunt continues: at the start of January, about twenty illegal health centres have been closed in the country.
